I completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) degree in Computing and Information Technology at Birmingham City University from 2020 to 2024, achieving a First Class Honours degree upon completion. This comprehensive programme equipped me with a robust foundation in both the theoretical and practical aspects of computing and IT.
Throughout the course, I engaged with a diverse curriculum designed to address the evolving needs of the IT industry. Key modules included:
- Applied Operating Systems: Explored the functionalities and management of modern operating systems, including Linux and Windows, emphasising real world tasks and skills.
- Network Fundamentals: Introduced the principles of network design and implementation, providing a solid grounding in networking concepts.
- Application Development: Using platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, Power BI, and Microsoft 365, I developed a range of business-focused applications and automations. This module was particularly rewarding as it demonstrated the power of low-code development in streamlining business processes and improving data visibility.
- Consultancy and IT Management: Developed an understanding of professional consulting processes and the role of IT management within organisations.
In addition to the academic curriculum, I undertook a professional placement year from July 2022 to September 2023. This invaluable experience allowed me to apply my knowledge in a real-world setting, further honing my technical skills and understanding of the IT sector’s dynamics.
The degree’s emphasis on both technical proficiency and professional development has thoroughly prepared me for a career in the ever-evolving field of computing and information technology.
