From 2018 to 2020, I studied at Halesowen College, taking A-Levels in Computer Science and History, along with an OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate in IT – which is equivalent to a full A-Level.
I achieved a grade B in both Computer Science and History, and was awarded a Distinction* in IT – the highest possible grade for that course. I particularly enjoyed the practical and problem-solving aspects of both computing courses, with Computer Science acting as my first introduction to coding, as well as the analytical thinking that History helped me to develop.
Unfortunately, my time at college was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This meant that I didn’t get to sit my final exams for Computer Science or History, and the grades were instead based on mock results – with coursework not taken into account. Thankfully, I had already completed all the assessments and exams for the IT course before lockdown began, so that result was fully earned under normal conditions.
I continued my studies of Computer Science and IT at Birmingham City University.
