In summer 2024, the IT team identified a gap in the Trust’s Managed Service Provider’s (MSP) approach to backups, meaning that Microsoft 365 went without an appropriate distaster recovery plan. Given that we were placing an increasing emphasis on colleagues embracing Microsoft 365 (SharePoint, OneDrive etc.) instead of on-premise storage, this led to an immediate Trust-wide evaluation of Microsoft 365 backup solutions to safeguard critical data.
Key Achievements
- Conducted a thorough review of leading providers (Keepit, Barracuda, Redstor, AvePoint, Concero).
- Led procurement and technical evaluation, ensuring the chosen solution met security, compliance, and cost-effectiveness criteria.
- Successfully implemented a cloud backup provider, with robust coverage for all Microsoft 365 data, even extending beyond this into Microsoft Entra ID.
